Lorena Abreu

Biography

Lorena Abreu is a Dominican Republic–born theatre kid raised in South Texas who went on to become a professional parkour athlete, stunt performer, and actress. She graduated from film school in Orlando and began training in parkour around 2014. Before that, she practised karate. Those disciplines would come to define her distinctive performance style. Her career in stunt work took off after she worked on NCIS: New Orleans, which led to her being short-listed for SAG-AFTRA. Her first significant feature film stunt double role was for Xochitl Gomez's character America Chavez in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), on the reshoots. Beyond that high-profile film work, she's doubled and performed stunts across a range of TV and film projects. On television, she's doubled actors such as Chrissie Fit in Shining Vale (2023), Justina Machado in The Horror of Dolores Roach (2023), and Emily Morales-Cabrera in American Horror Stories (2022). She also performed on The Rookie: Feds (2023) and appeared in multiple episodes of NCIS: New Orleans (2017–2020), doubling both Jowin Marie Batoon and Raquel Dominguez. In film, besides Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, she doubled Malia Baker in Descendants: The Rise of Red (2024). Lorena has also made numerous appearances in performance and reality contexts under her nickname "The Atomic Ant" (a moniker inspired by the 1960s cartoon Atom Ant): she competed on Total Knock Out with Kevin Hart (achieving third place), appeared as a Pro Tagger called "Atomic Ant" on Ultimate Tag (2020), and hosted episodes of TBD's The LINKand TBD Bytes. She also participated in Exatlón Estados Unidos (2018), ultimately finishing as the best female on her team and reaching the semi-finals. Her abilities are remarkably diverse: she specialises in parkour and freerunning. She holds credentials as a WFPF-certified level 2 parkour instructor. She coaches, choreographs, and has executed advanced wire work and high falls. Her athletic and performance skill set extends to stunt fighting, basic tumbling and flips, fire burns, stage combat, and multiple dance styles including belly dance, hip hop, salsa, and merengue. She is bilingual (English and Spanish) and trained in martial arts (brown belt in karate). Her formal training includes earning a Bachelor of Science in Film from Full Sail University in Orlando (2012–2014), attending the John Zimmerman Stunt Camp in Florida (stunt training), and participating in a Musical Theatre Summer Conservatory in London through Performing Arts Abroad. Before her stunt career took off, she did performance work in Orlando—most notably playing a princely role in a show at Universal Orlando—which opened up more opportunities using her parkour, acting, and dance abilities. In addition to performing, she has creative credits in documentary filmmaking. She directed, edited, and wrote the short documentary Rilla Hops: The Documentary, which was an official selection at the DocMiami/Florida Documentary Film Festival in 2014.
